The fictional library used to design this 12 month program plan is a branch library in a suburban area of a larger city wide public library system comprised of 20 distinct branch libraries. This branch serves approximately 30,000 patrons. The surrounding neighborhood is residential and home to middle and lower class families. There are three schools within walking distance from the library ( a preschool, elementary, and middle school) consequently the library has a substantial number of “latchkey kids” in the library after school. The local community is diverse and has significant Latinx, South Asian, Asian, and Armenian populations. For these reasons, the library branch caters towards working parents, focuses on after school programs, and cultural diversity.
